Hair Journey

Going natural for me has been a 3 step process: transitioning, a big-ish chop and then the trimming the rest of my relaxed hair.

Transitioning (August 2014- February 2015) :
This is the step where I decided to stop relaxing my hair. From August 2014- February 2015 I braided --->  2 weeks break ---> then back to braids.
I literally survived on different protective styles because my hair was a mission to deal. I was literally dealing with 2 different hair textures as well as the the weak point where the two textures aka ‘The demarcation Zone’
In the 2 weeks between protective styles, I washed, deep conditioned and trimmed my hair.
Styling this hair was more of a challenge so stuck to one hairstyle, a poof and headband.

First Big-ish Chop (February 2015):
I basically asked my hairdresser cut as much of the relaxed hair as possible and leave enough for her to do twists.

Trimming of the rest of the relaxed hair (April 2015):
Shortest hair I have had in years. I realized the necessity of accessories as well as eyeliner and lipstick. I’ve never been one for makeup, not because I hate it, but because I’m lazy, but with loss of my hair I needed a little more femininity (for my own insecurities sake).
